Daniel Figols-Cuevas was born in Barcelona in 1980. He studied cello, physics at Universitat de Barcelona and composition at ESMuC with Luis Naón and at Freiburg Musik Hochschule with Mathias Spahlinger. He pursued his studies of composition and orchestration at CNSMDP with Stefano Gervasoni and Denis Cohen.
After studying computer assisted composition at IRCAM (Paris) under Yan Maresz guidance, he is been granted a Masters Degree at CNSMDP in october 2012.
He has obtained a Research PhD in composition at King’s College London under George Benjamin and Silvina Milstein supervision.
He participated actively in various academies: Fondation Royaumont, Centre Acanthes, Domaine Forget and Manifeste Academy, Paris and his works have been performed in many countries by reknown ensembles: Klangforum Wien, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, Orchestre Nationale de Lorraine, Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, Jenaer Philharmonie Orchestra, BCN216, Lontano Ensemble, Musica Qu Lacoza, Ensemble Diagonal.
He is being awarded with Impuls International Competition Prize 2012, Via-Nova Weimar 2013 and Societé Royale d'Harmonie de Belgique (2016)..
